As in previous years, the proceeds from Brighton Bear Weekend go primarily to the Brighton Rainbow Fund, a Brighton and Hove based grant-giving fund for local LGBT and HIV/AIDS organisations. (Additional sums are raised for other local charities.)
Over the last five years, a range of local groups have benefited from the Brighton Rainbow Fund, including MindOut, Lunch Positive, Allsorts, Sussex Beacon, Older and Out, LGBT Community Safety Forum, Out In Brighton (Radio Reverb), the Justin Campaign and GEMS.
The Brighton Rainbow Fund has an open scrutiny process to provide full transparency for donors, and is registered as a not-for-profit Community Interest Company. Everyone at the Brighton Rainbow Fund is a volunteer, with no salaries, offices or overheads to fund out of donated money.
