Online shop update

With Brighton Bear Weekend kicking off in only a few days’ time, we can no longer guarantee postal delivery of items from our online shop in time for you to get them before the big weekend. As a result, you have only until midnight tonight (Sunday 9 June) to order clothing and wristbands for delivery.

After that, you will still be able to order wristbands for collection on the weekend (ideally at Welcome Night on Friday or from a crew member at any other time), until the end of Thursday. You will no longer be able to order t-shirts and vests, but you can buy them at Prowler Brighton, and we’ll also be selling them at Welcome Night.

Tickets for Beefmince, the Royal Pavilion Tour and the LGBT Walking Tour of Brighton will remain on sale in our online shop until the end of Thursday. After that, you will be able to buy any remaining tickets at Welcome Night on Friday.

We have now sold over two-thirds of our Beefmince tickets, so get yours quickly if you want to go!

The Bearspace project at Brighton Bear Weekend

We interviewed Dr Nick McGlynn of the University of Brighton, who will be conducting research for his Bearspace project during Brighton Bear Weekend. You can help out by attending the Bearspace focus group (and have Bear Breakfast at the same time!) at the Camelford Arms next Saturday (15 June) at 11:00am, or you can arrange a private interview with Nick. Read our fascinating interview with Nick about his project.

Meet your host, Jonbee!

Your friendly host at many of the events at Brighton Bear Weekend (13-16 June) will be the inimitable and very talented Jonbee! We caught up with him and asked him what he’ll be doing and what he’s looking forward to most …

Well … here we go again! I’m so excited and honoured to be able to host and compere Brighton Bear Weekend again this year. The international bear community inviting the world to join in with lots of fun, music, dancing, laughter, culture and an all round bloody good time! Old friends and friends I’ve yet to meet gathering together to party hard and all the while raising money for the Rainbow Fund!

Jon B

By the time we get to the weekend itself, I’ll have just got back from a weekend celebrating Inclusion in Sport at the Union Cup in Dublin with the Sea Serpents rugby team, and will be looking forward to meeting everyone at the Quiz on Thursday and Welcome Night on Friday evening!

I can’t wait to chuck out a few songs for you all at the Garden Party and Bear-a-oke, but most of all I can’t wait to host the Find Jonbee a Husband competition … er … I mean the Mr Brighton Bear competition! It’s my favourite weekend because no matter who you are, where you are or what you are, you’re more than welcome to join us for any or all of the weekend!

Have I mentioned how excited I am? See you there for hug and a Hi!

Interview with Dave the Bear

After a hectic Saturday of indoor and outdoor daytime events followed by our big Beefmince club night, what better way to relax on Sunday at Brighton Bear Weekend than an afternoon of Cabaret with Dave the Bear? Have a Sunday roast lunch at Amsterdam Bar and Kitchen and stay on afterwards for entertainment from Dave the Bear and guests starting at 3:00 pm on Sunday 16 June.

We asked Dave a few questions to find out what he has been up to and what we can expect on the day … read the interview here.

Gscene magazine’s June edition out now

The June 2019 edition of Gscene, Brighton’s LGBT news and listings magazine, is available online now! The cover features the very handsome Dave, modelling our 2019 t-shirt, with a backdrop of Brighton’s (well, Hove’s actually!) famous colourful beach huts on the seafront.
