If you like to dance, you’ll love our line-up of club nights at Brighton Bear Weekend! We fired a few questions at our three DJs: Josh the Barber, Rob C and DJ Bozzy Bear. Click the links to find out what to expect from them over the big weekend!
Many of you will know the Yorkshire Bears from our own and other bear events around the country (and even further afield, to Spain!). Geoff from Yorkshire Bears has written a marvellous review of last year’s weekend, when he and a group of friends hit Brighton for three nights of beer, bears and bad behaviour … you can read it right here.
Gin & Bear It‘s drinks menu for the Bear-B-Q Picnic on Saturday 18 June is here!
The libations on offer will include the brand new Bear’s Knees cocktail (gin, honey and beer), the effervescent Sloe Gin-ger Fizz, the delicious Long Island Iced Tea, and the classic Cheeky Gin (or Vodka) and Tonic. Beers and soft drinks will also be available. Check out the full menu (PDF 208KB) and get your drinking chops ready!
We can’t wait for the Bear-B-Q Picnic on Saturday 18 June! Barbecue and other delicious food will be available from Lunch Positive, who do great work in our local community. We talked with Gary Pargeter to find out what they do and what to expect at the picnic … read the full interview here.
We’re on the cover of this month’s Gscene magazine! The cover photo, taken by local photographer Peter McEachern, features members of Brighton’s gay and inclusive rugby team, the Sea Serpents, who will be at the Bear-B-Q and other events over the big weekend (16-19 June).
We’re looking forward to our local inclusive rugby team’s Sea Serpents in the Garden of Envy variety show at Envy (above Charles Street bar) on Saturday 11 June. Doors open at 7:00pm, with the show starting an hour later. Dave Lynn and Kara Van Park will be hosting, with special guest appearances from Sally Vate, Davina Sparkle, Mysterry, Trudi Styles and the Pianoman, and Laura Nixon as Marilyn Monroe, as well as appearances from members of the Sea Serpents. After the show, the night will continue with tunes from DJ Ant Nichols.
The night will raise funds for the rugby club to compete in the Union Cup 2017, Europe’s gay and inclusive rugby tournament. The club will donate up to £1,000 of the profit made to help the renewal of the Sussex Beacon Summer House, which brings much joy to users of the charity’s clients and their families.
We can’t wait to try the drinks at Gin & Bear It‘s artisan gin bar at the Bear-B-Q Picnic on Saturday 18 June. We wanted to know what to expect on the day, so we talked to Aaron and John … you can read the full interview here.

With less than four weeks to go now until Brighton Bear Weekend, the city’s LGBT news and listings magazine Gscene has a good run-down of the weekend’s events. (But don’t worry – on the weekend itself, we’ll have handouts of the programme of events to give to you, and all upcoming events will be announced on Facebook in plenty of time!)
You may have seen comedian Zoe Lyons on TV shows such as Mock the Week and Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow … and here she is wearing our very own t-shirt!
Zoe is a Brighton resident and a Patron of the Rainbow Fund, our designated charity. She says:
Wishing all you lovely Bears a fabulous weekend in Brighton this June. Have a truck load of fun and thanks to each and every one of you for supporting the Rainbow Fund and all the great causes it helps in Brighton And Hove.
