In the second of three short interviews with the big weekend’s DJs, we talked to Rob C …
Can you please tell us about yourself?
I’ve been DJing on the London clubbing scene for a number of years and have played at most of the main clubs and bars, such as the Fridge (Love Muscle), Heaven, G.A.Y., Fire, Union, Barcode (Energy Bears), Royal Vauxhall Tavern on Sundays (I’m currently a resident DJ team at the latter) and the Eagle (mainly Bootcamp). I’ve also played in mainland Europe and the US, and hope to be back in the States in September.
What can we expect from you at Brighton Bear Weekend and Brighton Pride this year?
I love Brighton! Every year I’m at Brighton Pride, spending a lot of time in and around the Men’s Tent. This year I’m fortunate to be DJing at Brighton Pride.
Last year was my first Brighton Bear Weekend. Everyone was really friendly (please come and say hello if you see me this year) and the Brighton Bears are to be congratulated for their fantastic support at the various events throughout last year’s BBW – which I understand raised a record amount for the Rainbow Fund. As well as raising money for charity, the weekend was great fun last year. Highlights for me were playing at Latest Music Bar, and then going on to Subline to hear DJ Bozzy Bear. The place was packed ’til very late.
This year I’ll be playing at Uproar at Envy on the Friday – expect a big party – and at Woofer at Latest Music Bar.
What are your favourite tunes at the moment?
I like to play big tracks, whether the latest commercial hits or classic club anthems. I’ve been having a good dig in my music collection, so fingers crossed we’re all going to have a lot of fun!
Rob C played at Uproar at Envy on Friday 17 June 2016, and on the main floor at Woofer at Latest Music Bar on Saturday 18 June 2016.
