Easter Quiz update

A packed crowd enjoyed our big Brighton Bear Easter Quiz on Thursday 29 March. We can’t tell you the grand fundraising total yet, until it is officially announced in the press, but we can say that we’re very happy indeed with the large amount raised. Thank you to everyone who came for their generosity and for creating such a fun atmosphere!

Thank you also to the wonderful staff at the Camelford Arms for hosting this event once again, and to everyone who donated prizes for the additional Raffle, including the Camelford Arms themselves, Prowler, Nice ‘n’ Naughty, Choccywoccydoodah, Chris Sarson and Clive Williams.

We’ll be publishing the grand total and more photos here and on Facebook soon!

Brighton Bear Weekend on the radio

Graham, chair of the Brighton Bear Weekend committee, was on Radio Reverb‘s Out in Brighton show yesterday, talking about our preparations for this year’s weekend, what you can look forward to there, and the good causes to which all the money raised goes each year.

He also called for volunteers to help out either before or during this year’s weekend (14-17 June). We always appreciate your help setting events up, breaking events down, manning the doors, shaking buckets, helping out with graphic design, or anything else you’re good at! If you’d like to volunteer, please send us a message via our contact form.

You can check out the interview in the first fifteen minutes of this podcast:

New t-shirt colours available now

We are delighted to announce that, due to popular demand, we now have two new t-shirt colours! In addition to the existing red and antique (light) blue, our brand new navy blue and forest green t-shirts are now on sale in our online shop.

If you happen to be in Brighton, you can also buy our t-shirts and wristbands at Prowler, where you can try them on for size. (But if you order one online and would prefer a different size, we’re always happy to exchange or refund with no quibbles!)

All t-shirts feature our fantastic 2018 logo by the popular illustrator Bobo-Bear (bottom right in an antique blue t-shirt in the picture below). Wear yours with pride!

Quiz Time!

It’s almost time for our annual Brighton Bear Easter Quiz at the Camelford Arms!

Easter Quiz 2018

Get ready to rack your brains and have fun (and a few beers) while doing it! The team with the most points will have a chance to win £300 cash or another prize. It’s just £2 per player to enter the quiz. Each team can have up to six players, or you can play by yourself if you wish.

The quiz itself will start at 9:00pm on Thursday 29 March, but arrive by 8:00 to make sure you get a table – or better still, why not have an early dinner? You can call the Camelford Arms at 01273 622386 in advance to book a table, and stay on afterwards for the quiz.

In addition to the quiz, there will also be our big Easter Raffle, with prizes from Prowler, Choccywoccydoodah, Nice ‘n’ Naughty, and many more – so everyone will have a chance to win!

New interview with Bobo-Bear

In the run-up to this coming weekend’s Brighton Bear Weekend 2018 logo launch at Prowler Brighton (Saturday 27 January, 5:00 to 7:00pm), we chatted with the logo’s designer, the highly talented Bobo-Bear. His amazing bear-themed designs were a huge hit last summer at Brighton Bear Weekend, Brighton Pride and many other events around the world, and he has a whole load of great new stuff in the pipeline!

You can read our new interview with Bobo-Bear here.
