With less than four weeks to go now until Brighton Bear Weekend, the city’s LGBT news and listings magazine Gscene has a good run-down of the weekend’s events. (But don’t worry – on the weekend itself, we’ll have handouts of the programme of events to give to you, and all upcoming events will be announced on Facebook in plenty of time!)
You may have seen comedian Zoe Lyons on TV shows such as Mock the Week and Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow … and here she is wearing our very own t-shirt!
Zoe is a Brighton resident and a Patron of the Rainbow Fund, our designated charity. She says:
Wishing all you lovely Bears a fabulous weekend in Brighton this June. Have a truck load of fun and thanks to each and every one of you for supporting the Rainbow Fund and all the great causes it helps in Brighton And Hove.
You can read the full article in Gscene.
Word is certainly getting around about Brighton Bear Weekend – posters for the event are now up in Bar Peppermint in Benidorm, Spain!
Tony and Jimmy are your friendly hosts at Benidorm’s most fun men’s bar, open every night from 11:00 until 4:30. Check out their Facebook page and website, and be sure to drop by and say hello when you’re in Benidorm!
We were on the radio on Thursday 7 April, talking with Kathy Caton on her Out in Brighton show on RadioReverb. Aaron from Gin And Bear It was with us, and we discussed gin, the Brighton Bear Weekend event lineup, and our plans for the big Bear-B-Q picnic in June.
If you want to listen online, here’s the Out in Brighton podcast.
We are extremely happy to announce that Brighton Bear Weekend will be co-hosting the men’s zone (where the bears congregate!) at this year’s Brighton Pride on Saturday 6 August.
For more information, check out this Gscene article. We look forward to seeing you there!
Fancy a gin and tonic? You’ll be able to get your fix at the Brighton Bear Weekend Bear-B-Q on the afternoon of Saturday 18 June, because the guys from Gin & Bear It will be there with their mobile gin bar.
We took some photos of Aaron and John (in the black t-shirts) with our own Graham at the Camelford Arms recently. Have a look at the photo album!
Just a reminder that this year’s t-shirt is on sale in our shop and also at Prowler in Brighton. It’s available in sizes from small to 3XL, in either black or red with a white logo.
Here’s the black t-shirt modelled by Rob, who DJ’d during last year’s big weekend:
Thanks to everyone who came to our Black Valentine event at Subline on Sunday 14 February. A good time was had by all in the underground love cavern, and a marvellous £201.75 was raised for the Rainbow Fund.
Check out the photo album from the night!
If you missed our appearance on Radio Reverb’s Out in Brighton show on Thursday, you can listen to it here. Together with Ian and Chris from Brighton and Hove’s new rugby team, the Sea Serpents, we talked about rugby, growing up gay, and our upcoming events (our own Black Valentine on Sunday – see below – and the Sea Serpents’ first match against Kings Cross Steelers IV at Hove Rec on Saturday 20th February). Here we are in the studio:
And here is the delightful Kathy Caton, presenter of Out in Brighton, modelling one of our very own t-shirts:
