We were voted best LGBT Community Social/Leisure/Networking Organisation by the public and collected our award at this year’s Golden Handbags Awards ceremony at the Hilton Brighton Metropole on Sunday 11 June.

Thank you so much to everyone who voted for us, and to everyone who has worked with us, volunteered for us, attended Brighton Bear Weekend and otherwise supported us over the years!

Brighton’s own Spice (winner of the special Community Fundraising Award at this year’s Golden Handbag Awards) will be bringing his unique “gender-discombobulated” style of cabaret to Brighton Bear Weekend in a few days’ time, performing at our Welcome Night and Bear-B-Que, and making an appearance at our Bear-a-oke evening.

We’re taking over Radio Reverb for a special one-hour Brighton Bear Weekend show next Saturday! We’ll be on the air with Kathy Caton (pictured below), host of the Out in Brighton show, together with various guests from the weekend’s festivities, talking all things bearish and playing some cracking tunes.

The show will be broadcast live from Brighton’s Open Market on Saturday 10 June from 11:00am to noon on 97.2 FM in the Brighton area, and live online on the Radio Reverb website (click LISTEN LIVE at the top). The show will also be archived online afterwards, and we’ll be sure to post a link here and on Facebook.
