In the first of three short interviews with the DJs who will be entertaining you over Brighton Bear Weekend, we chat with Josh the Barber …
Can you please tell us about yourself?
I’m Josh The Barber, and I’ve been DJing for 20 years or so in Brighton. I’ve played all over the place in Brighton over the years, lots of bars and guest DJ at one-off club nights. I promoted and DJed at GBH at Storm, which was fantastic. I’m currently playing one month at Doctor Brighton’s, and this is my seventh year in the Men’s Tent at Pride, which will be great fun.
What can we expect from you at Brighton Bear Weekend?
I’ll be playing Woofer at Latest Music Bar on Saturday night, downstairs in the dark, sleazy basement. Ill be playing a dirty, darker house set which went down very well last year.
What is your favourite kind of music? What gets people on the dance floor?
I love all kinds of music from disco to driving house. I think at the Bear Weekend, people love a house classic, but also a track with a fantastic groove and bassline.
What kind of music do you like to hear when you go out? Any favourite DJs?
Again, I like all sorts – it depends what mood I’m in. As for my favourite DJ, anyone who I can dance to and who puts a smile on my face!
What are you looking forward to most at Brighton Bear Weekend?
Great weather, amazing music, and lots of nice smiling men!
Josh the Barber played in the basement at Woofer at Latest Music Bar on Saturday 18 June 2016.
