In this first part of our profile of DJ Grant Knowles, we’ll be asking him a few questions about his DJing and what to expect from him at this year’s Brighton Bear Weekend, and he’ll be sharing his top five current dance tunes with us …

DJ Grant Knowles

Hi Grant. We’re really excited about seeing you at this year’s Brighton Bear Weekend! What can we look forward to?

I’m looking forward to playing at this year’s Brighton Bear Weekend Welcome Night! Expect lots of chunky housey bassline tunes, with a little bit of an old skool twist. I’m looking forward to seeing lots of familiar faces from around the scene! [See Grant’s Top Five Current Dance Tunes below for an idea of what to expect in his set.]

How did you start out as a DJ?

I started my DJ career in the UK, and have been performing internationally for over twenty years now. My passion for music started at a very early age – I used to DJ for my own school discos at the tender age of 14 and it has just grown from there, from holding UK residencies all over the country, to overseas festivals and club events.

Where do you play currently, and what else have you got coming up?

I am currently holding residencies in the UK – Fridays at Brighton’s longest running gay bar, the fantastic Bulldog Brighton with our weekly night Twist, and once monthly at Brighton’s biggest gay venue, the newly refurbished Charles Street Tap. The remainder of the month I’m back along the south coast at Worthing’s number one venue, Ten Cocktail Bar and Club.

So, with Brighton Gay Pride nearly with us once again, I’m very proud to be playing at my Brighton residencies along with the St. James’s Street party and the Marine Parade street party, with a huge attendance of thousands as you know. There may be a cheeky appearance in the main park again (to be confirmed), so all exciting stuff as we head into the summer of 2018!

Thanks, Grant – we can’t wait!

Grant will be playing at Brighton Bear Weekend’s Welcome Night at Bar Revenge on Friday 15 June. More information »
